Campaign to save Gourock's Pets Corner continues to grow
18 JanuaryThe campaign to save Pets Corner has continued to grow, and now has almost 1000 supporters.
This is double the number that it had just a few weeks ago.
When we last wrote about the campaign, on December 14, it had the support of 500 people. That number has now nearly doubled- with the facebook page for the campaign having 991 fans.
The Pets Corner in Gourock Park contains animals such as goats and rabbits for children to meet.
Inverclyde Council is currently reviewing its spending and will have to make cuts to certain services.
It is yet to decide which services to cut, but some people are concerned that it may decide to close down Pets Corner.
A Council spokesman said: "Proposals identifying savings of nearly £11 million are currently being considered by elected members to close a £6 million funding gap in the 2011/2013 budget. No decisions have yet been taken about where these savings will be made."
