Gourock councillor quits Lib Dems for Liberal Party

  • Gourock councillor George White has left the Liberal Democrats, joining the Liberal Party

Gourock councillor George White has resigned from the Scottish Liberal Democrat party - switching allegiance to the Liberal Party and becoming its only Scottish councillor.

The councillor said his resignation was about not being able to seek nomination as the Scottish Liberal Democrat candidate for Argyll and Bute in the Scottish Parliament elections.

The 20 Inverclyde councillors now consist of eight Labour, five SNP, three Liberal Democrats, one Conservative, one Liberal and two independents.
